Stardew Valley 1.6 – Everything we know already
Stardew Valley is one of the most successful, highly addictive indie games of all time. And, like many games made by one person, it hasn’t received a major update in a while. But independent creator Eric Barone (AKA ConcernedApe) announced that the game will receive an update soon. And oh boy, are we excited!
Let’s take a look at everything we know about Stardew 1.6 so far…
What’s been announced?
Eric Barone revealed on Twitter that Stardew 1.6 will mostly include changes for modders, making it “easier and more powerful to mod”. This move makes sense, as it’ll give players the chance to interact with the game in new and exciting ways and enjoy the update for longer, without demanding 1.7. Those who don’t care about mods (or can’t mod) will be happy to hear that there will also be new game content – although much less than 1.5.
Considering he’s taking a break from the upcoming confectionery store simulation game Haunted Chocolatier to work on this update, we don’t doubt that some big things are coming our way. We’re just praying that they finally add sprinklers to the beach farm (if you know, you know…). And if we’re making requests, we’d also like it if Shane was a bit nicer – but maybe that’s wishful thinking!
In response to a fan, Barone mentioned that the new update will contain more dialogue. Great for those who love to read, but not so much for those who skip everything.
In May, he also posted a very cryptic Tweet that just said ‘iridium scythe’. The scythe is currently one of the only tools that can’t be upgraded to iridium. Only time will tell if this actually means what we think it does.
Stardew 1.6 patch notes
The Stardew Valley Wiki includes some interesting information about 1.6. Aside from the usual bug fixes and balancing changes, you’ll (apparently) be able to move the farmhouse and pet bowl and see your actual position in real-time on the world map. You’ll also be able to see your friends’ positions in multiplayer mode. Finally, the shops in the game will have a slight delay before you can buy or sell items to prevent accidental double-clicks. Of course, these are all subject to change, but we’re excited regardless!
Looking for a game server?
There’s no official release date for 1.6, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy plenty of other games! If you like playing games like CS:GO and CoD4 with your friends, you can do so on your own private server. You just need one thing: a reliable hosting provider!
At Fasthosts, we have dedicated game servers for as little as £5 per month. If you have any questions, give us a call on 0800 0612 153.
