Cheers to Simon and his 16 years at Fasthosts

In September, we said goodbye to our CEO, Simon Yeoman. Simon has been with Fasthosts for 16 years and over that time has taken on several roles and seen the company through many changes. In 2018, he became CEO, leading a company that looks to help their customers get online in the easiest way possible.

After gaining a degree in business and economics, Simon worked for Orange Telecommunications as a Customer Service Manager. He worked his way up over the years, eventually becoming Head of Customer Technical Support. This success led to him managing a team of over 1,000 employees and taking on leadership roles across continents. It’s this drive to succeed that has seen him through his 16 years at Fasthosts.

As CEO of Fasthosts, Simon has championed bringing reliable and accessible information to all, providing a future with broader horizons. He has challenged assumptions and explored new ways of providing services and marketing our products. Anyone who has worked with Simon knows his passion for the business and making sure customers and employees alike are heard and cared for.

To quote Simon himself, “I believe in leading with integrity and honesty, ensuring my work persona aligns with my core values.”

It’s clear from the words shared from colleagues across Fasthosts that he’s a well-loved person, who cares about his employees and wants to work to make sure everyone is happy in their roles, while looking to help customers out with anything they need. Here's a few highlights from the thoughts and memories shared:

“I have had the privilege of working alongside Simon for the past 16 years. He was my first manager when I transitioned into a managerial role, and throughout this time, he has been a mentor, coach, and guide.” – Tom Lozynskyj, Head of UK Operations

"Thank you for the many incredible years of guidance, leadership, and support. Working with you has been a privilege, and I’ve learned much from your dedication, vision, and passion for our work… Your departure leaves a significant gap, but your impact on the business and staff will be felt for years to come.” – Mark Wood, Head of TechOps Data Centres (UK)

“I've worked with Simon for many years, with both of us being in various different roles during that time. Simon is always easy to work with, available to drop in to speak to, open to new ideas and different ways of approaching / thinking about problems. He's always open and fair, and focused on providing a great place for us all to work together.” – John Brownbill, Product Owner

“I have always looked up to Simon and admired how he has tackled all the challenges faced by the business over the years. We have had some great times at the inter company football tournaments in Germany and he certainly knows how to have a good laugh.” – Daniel Badham, Operational Support Specialist

“His strong leadership from day 1 has been nothing short of exceptional and most importantly, his strong presence as our leader was felt consistently. Through his encouragement, motivation and guidance, he developed a workplace culture unlike no other. A culture where we all became passionate about the work that we do, we continually strived to meet high standards in our service delivery for our customers whilst having many laughs along the way. “ – Georgia Themistokleous, Fasthosts Ops Support Manager

“Simon has consistently demonstrated an exceptional balance between being an inspirational leader and an approachable colleague. He has led by example, always stepping in to take ownership when needed and getting involved in the details to ensure that every consideration is made to guarantee the best outcomes.” – Gavin Etheridge, Head of Product Owners

“We have worked together in different roles for a number of years and during this time Simon demonstrated a number of traits that through emulation I think have made me a better person, from maintaining a level of standards and expecting others to do the same, driving people to be their best, maintaining a cool head when all around is chaotic, subtle coaching through questions to help people get to the heart of decisions and managing by walking about.” – Jon Dainton, Head of Customer Operations Services

Simon’s absence will be greatly felt across the company, and we thank him for his 16 years of hard work and service to Fasthosts.
